The Old Thompson Barn Sales Office
HISTORY  In 1879, Myron Thompson and his son Alex were among the first settlers in the Crystal River Valley and the newly-incorporated Town of Carbondale. They established the Thompson Ranch at the confluence of the Crystal River and Thompson Creek. Today, we all know that homestead as River Valley Ranch.

BARN FACTOIDS  Original buildings, that a century ago housed ranch hands, are prominent on the RVR landscape today. The old Thompson barn, originally located on the north side of RVR by #7 teebox, was painstakingly moved board by board to its present site in 1998. Gone are the hayracks and stalls. Modern amenities were brilliantly retrofitted with an understated subtlety. Today it serves as our office, the River Valley Ranch Sales Center.
COMMUNITY EVENTS Destination Holdings hosts several fun special events each year, bringing together our neighbors for celebration and networking. This year, we held an art show, New Year’s Eve soiree, and Chamber of Commerce after-hours social. Please call to secure your spot on our invite list.
